Borderlands Produce Rescue

Produce On Wheels - With Out Waste (P.O.W.W.O.W.) disperses 10 million lbs. of fresh rescued produce annually to communities at various sites throughout Southern Arizona and the Metropolitan Tucson and Phoenix service areas. Contribute $10 to shop for up to 60 lbs. of fresh produce for your family or to share with neighbors, friends, or someone who's in need.

Distribution of produce will take place in the ASU West campus North Parking Lots by students from Changemaker Central. 

Literature and the Law

Travis Marker, the founder and director of the Scrivener’s Quill: A Center for Lawyers and Literature has brought together a team of legal experts and scholars to present on literature’s application to the practice of law. From To Kill a Mocking Bird to Beowulf, is team will show how the great literary works of our time can be used to explain our laws and policies of today.

Travis Marker will be joined by Hon. Barbara Sattler, Robert E. Bjork, Bryce Dixon, Kenny Hegland and Stephen L. Saltonstall.

Description

The most sex-biased regions of our genome, the X and Y chromosomes, are often excluded from clinical genetics studies. The speaker will talk about her research into the evolutionary history of the sex chromosomes, and how we use these chromosomes as a tool to study how mutation rates accumulate differently between males and females.
