Biomechanical Constraints on Molar Emergence in Primates

Scientists can understand the life of a fossil primate by looking at the timing of when it got its molars. Do the biomechanics of chewing affect that timing?

Halszka Glowacka, evolutionary anthropology doctoral candidate in the School of Human Evolution and Social Change, will defend her dissertation, "Biomechanical Constraints on Molar Emergence in Primates." Her committee members are Associate Professor Gary Schwartz (chair), Professor Kaye Reed, Professor Bill Kimbel and Associate Professor Barth Wright.

RE:SISTERS

"RE:SISTERS" features new collaborative work by Lisa and Janelle Iglesias. As Las Hermanas Iglesias, the sisters create artworks that disrupt borders, engage absurdity and promote the benefits of working together. As the title suggests, the works in the exhibition engage the artists' own familial relationship, resist categorization and speak to processes and gestures of disobedience.

Family Day with Las Hermanas Iglesias

Spend a full day with us making, learning and playing. This summer, sister duo Las Hermanas Iglesias will join us for Family Day in conjunction with the new exhibition "RE:SISTERS." At Family Days, art stations are set up throughout our galleries for kids ages 4–12. Activities revolve around current exhibitions, and many are led by local artists. All activities are free, and kids take home their artwork. No registration required.
