The creative writing program in the Department of English at ASU presents a reading and book-signing by three of its star graduates: Lauren Albin (MFA 2016), Sue Hyon Bae (MFA 2017) and Ayşe Papatya Bucak (MFA 1999).
About the authors
Lauren Albin's translations and original poetry have appeared in The Malahat Review, The Southeast Review and The Bitter Oleander, among others. Her co-translation of Kim Hyesoon's "A Drink of Red Mirror" was published by Action Books in 2019. She's currently visiting assistant professor of English at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA.
Sue Hyon Bae was raised in South Korea, Malaysia and Texas. Her first book of poems, "Truce Country," was published in 2019. Her co-translation of Kim Hyesoon’s "A Drink of Red Mirror" is available from Action Books.
Ayşe Papatya Bucak is the author of "The Trojan War Museum and Other Stories" (Norton, 2019). Her writing has been published in a variety of journals including One Story, Bomb, The Iowa Review, Guernica and Witness. Two stories from "The Trojan War Museum" were reprinted in the O. Henry and Pushcart Prize anthologies. She is an associate professor at Florida Atlantic University.
