Discussion and Film Screening: 'Latinos Beyond Reel — Challenging a Media Stereotype'

Join us for a discussion and film screening of "Latinos Beyond Reel — Challenging a Media Stereotype." Monica De La Torre, assistant professor of the School of Transborder Studies and Martha Gonzalez, Arizona State University Gammage guest residency artist, assistant professor of Chicana/o Latina/o studies, Scripps Collge will lead a discussion on the film.

This powerful film offers an eye-opening look at Latino media representations and explores how these representations have shaped public attitudes and American political culture. The film argues that while Latinos may be the fastest-growing segment of the U.S. population and an increasingly formidable force, they continue to be marginalized and misrepresented across American news and entertainment media.

The event is free and open to the public.
